The Afan Boats Club, is situated in the mouth of the river Afan .which is the entrance to Port Talbot docks this has reopened after closing in the early 70s., Easy access to Aberavon beach which is safe for bathing ,there is also a area for surfers and jet ski users. Morfa beach or Margam sands has excellent fishing, still visible is the wreck of the Amazon which was lost here in bad weather after departing the docks with a cargo of coal which you can still come across . The River Neath, busy river with the Monkstone yacht club, Area of fishing Gower coast 45 min away at 6kn River Neath 20min at 6kn Sker Rocks 25min at 6kn Port Talbot Tidal harbour 10min at 6kn Stalin wreck 15min at 6kn Cabenda wreck 30min at 6kn
1 From the M4 motorway, exit at junction 40. Turn left and follow the road until the traffic lights. Turn right at these lights, following signs for Port Talbot Town Centre. Follow the road past the train station, through the 2 sets of lights and over the flyover. Turn left at the roundabout (with former Blanco's restaurant on your left), signposted 'Aberavon Beach'. After the pedestrian traffic lights, you will see a McDonalds further up the road take the first left cross the bridge take a right go through main Gate striate up 100 yard you reach the slip 2 From the M4 motorway, exit at junction 40. Turn left and follow the road until the traffic lights turn right at these lights, following signs for Port Talbot Town Centre. at Port Talbot railway station, go across the level crossing towards the steelworks. At the roundabout take the third exit follow the road about a mile, down do not turn, go through main Gate striate up 100 yard you reach the slip Follow signs for Port Talbot Town Centre 3 From the M4 motorway, exit at junction 41 take 3 right over the flyover. Turn 3 right at the roundabout signposted 'Aberavon Beach'.
